On Thursday, April 15th, the Kingman High School Band traveled to Pratt to compete in State Large Group Contest. Unlike solos and ensembles, there is no Regionals for Large Group. There were 24 bands attending at Pratt that day, and each and every one had to play at the very best of their abilities to impress the judges who were very critical this year.

With only a few 1's going out in ratings and a frightening amount of 3's being earned along with the occasional 4, Kingman took the stage with the knowledge that they were going to have to do something pretty fantastic to wow the judges. While they were not among the schools to earn 1's, the band still was proud of the effort they put into their performance, which earned a 2 from all three judges for their performance of 'Encanto' and 'Mars', which they also played at the KHS Spring Concert.

While they didn't earn 1's, the band and Ms. Charbonneau felt really good about how they performed. The judges even commented that it appeared the KHS band had worked very hard on the two pieces ahead of time and that it was just a few minor details that kept them from giving a performance worth a 1 rating.
