| Music Ensembles and Soloist Perform at Regional Contest |

Saturday, April 10th, students competed as either soloists or ensembles at the music Regional Contest held at Andover Central High School. Students who receive a I rating advance to compete at State Contests which is Saturday, April 24th at Andover High School.
Vocally, Madrigals competed as an ensemble while senior Lisa Giefer and sophomore Libby Reeves took solos. Junior Briana Staggs was also scheduled to do a vocal solo but was ill on the day of the competition.
Instrumentally, the only ensemble that competed was the Kingman High School Brass Quintet. Instrumental soloists were seniors Lisa Giefer on the French Horn, Sarah McPherren on the Tuba, Melanie Rainosek on the Alto Saxophone, and junior Summer Phillips also on the Alto Saxophone.
The Madrigals consist of seniors Matt Snyder, Breck Knoblauch, Christian Maude, Blake Boswell, Nathan Siemens, Richie Miller, Gage Patterson, Bethany Bailey, Sarah Schrag, Paige Bornholdt, and Lisa Giefer; juniors Ross Gillen, Briana Staggs, and Allison Molitor; sophomores Will Cousins, Kent Girard, Blaine Boswell, Chance Frampton, Libby Reeves, Kaitlyn Sterneker, Emily Voran, and Devin Andersen. The group performed the song "All At Once While Met Fair Ladies" and earned a II rating despite their hard efforts.
Senior Lisa Giefer earned a I rating for her songs, one of which is based off an Emily Dickinson poem. Sophomore Libby Reeves received a II for her songs.
The Kingman High School Brass Quintet was made up of seniors Sarah McPherren (Tuba), Nathan Siemens (Trombone), and Lisa Giefer (French Horn); sophomore Devin Andersen (Trumpet); and freshman Tim Farris (Trumpet). The group performed "Cor Royal" and received a I rating. Lisa Giefer played her instrumental solo on the French Horn and received a rating of I for her performance. Sarah McPherren played her tuba and earned a I rating. Senior Melanie Rainosek also received a I rating for her performance of "Album Leaf" on the Alto Saxophone. Junior Summer Phillips also performed an Alto Saxophone solo called "Sonatine" by Maurice Ravel and earned a II rating.
In all, the Kingman High School Brass Quintet, along with Lisa Giefer (both vocally and instrumentally), Sarah McPherren, and Melanie Rainosek have qualified to attend State Contest.
