On Monday, April 12, Kingman traveled to Rose Hill for the first league matchup of the season. The Eagles returned home disappointed, though. The Rockets, now 6-2 and projected by many to win the AVCTL title, won both games of the double-header, 12-2 and 9-6, and placed Kingman at 0-2 in AVCTL play.

The following day, Kingman took on the undefeated Medicine Lodge Indians in a non-league contest at home. The Eagles had to reach far into their depth chart for pitchers due to the previous night’s double-header, and came up short in both games.

“This year’s ball club has a legitimate chance at putting a banner in the gym with an AVCTL title. It's one of our goals,” said Kingman Head Coach Toby Munz. “We went after Rose Hill (league opponent) with all of our arms. Rose Hill was better than us Monday. But, we are a better team than we showed on Monday.”

“Rose Hill won't run the table,” he said. “If we keep our heads up, that goal is still achievable.”

The Eagles (3-5) will now look to their next opponent, Mulvane. The Mulvane Wildcats (3-5) will come to Kingman’s Riverside Park on Monday, April 19.

Recruiting Note: Aaron Minor and Austin Minor signed Letters of Intent last week, solidifying their plans to play for Barton County. The twins verbally committed earlier in the year.
