On Saturday February 5th at 6:30 A.M. many Kingman Future Business Leaders of America members departed for Canton-Galva to participate in the FBLA District Competition. Every year before State competition, FBLA competes at the district level to test members' skills in events that are affiliated with business areas. Each test has anywhere from 25-50 other students competing to prove their awareness of the corporate world.
Overall Kingman High School took 3rd place. Another remarkable accomplishment was how well the first year members competed. Some finished in the top ten of several categories. First year members Carlene Dick, Alex Harden, Calli Harrel, Christian Maude, Allison Molitor, Stan Obrock, Mike Meng, Maegan Osner, Justin Resciniti, Sara Rohlman, Rachel Schrag, Julian Smith, and Taten Stamm all competed well and placed with in the top ten of most of their events. District brought many of these newbies to challenge themselves. Without extensive knowledge of FBLA or business procedures, many had not a clue of what they were getting into when first arriving at Canton-Galva High, but these members gave their best effort and represented Kingman FBLA fabulously. Senior Christian Maude stated, "For this being my first FBLA competition it was fun! The competitions weren't as hard as I thought, and I would definitely do it again."
Other schools competing at the district were: Andover, Andover Central, Arkansas City, Belle Plaine, Buhler, Canton-Galva, Centre, Chaparral, Goddard, Great Bend, Herington, Hesston, Inman, Marion, Nickerson, Sacred Heart, and Udall. Listed below are individual standouts and team placing.

Looking to the future, members are preparing for the State Leadership Conference in Topeka on March 30 - 31. Members will compete in the same events as listed above. With success at district, members look to continue their winnings to the State level and hopefully guarantee themselves a spot in the top three of their event to qualify for the National Leadership Conference. Competition at the state level will include some of the same competitors from district along with seven additional districts of similar size.
