Last weekend a lucky group of FBLA members took a trip to Denver, Colorado for their annual National Fall Leadership Conference (NFLC). Those who were in attendance are as following: seniors Emma Beat, Sarah Schrag, and Meredith Voran; junior Ross Hamilton and Allison Molitor; sophomores Kent Girard, Alex Wing, Allen Schonlau, Devin Andersen, Sami Ybarra, Erin Wells, and Abbie Jett; freshmen Julian Smith, Madison Boyer, Rachel Schrag and Alex Harden. Advisors attending were Mrs. Cindy Austin and Ms. Lisa Moore.

The Denver NFLC started on November 13th and ended the next day, November 14th. Due to many attendees being in the play, the members were unable to attend the first full day of workshops. Members left Kingman at 7:30 a.m. on the 13th and made an eight and half hour drive to Colorado. Even though the students were unable to take a charted bus, the group had a lot of fun together making the ride more enjoyable.

Upon arriving at the Hyatt/convention center, members were eager to start the busy weekend. The opening session began at 9:00 p.m. and a large crowd was present. With over 2,500 members and advisors, it was a great experience and rush to feel the energy and excitement from a crowd of high school students all coming together to network their business side. FBLA members from all over the U.S. were representing states such as Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Wyoming, Arkansas, Nebraska, Alaska, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Washington.

Many workshops were available all day Saturday. Some ranged from fundraising ideas, club organization techiniques, and college planning. There was a workshop for everyone to relate to or learn something new. Members also had the chance to experience Denver's shopping and eating establishments. Another great surprise to the Kingman FBLA group was a beautiful snow fall Saturday night and Sunday morning. Although the snow storm caused a set back on getting home as scheduled, the members had a great time enjoying each other's company.

The trip was a great success. Not only did these FBLA members learn many new skills to help their local chapter, but many also made new friends and memories that will last a life time. “I think everyone had a blast whether it was in workshops, shopping, or just socializing,” stated senior Meredith Voran, local FBLA President.
