The Annual Pratt Community College Academic Olympics took place on February 22nd. The Academic Olympics tests student knowledge in subjects such as art, creative writing, journalism, and photography. This year Kingman had several students represent the school. Among all students that participated, Tina Molitor, senior, placed 5th and 6th with her entries in photography sport digital color. Anthony Williams, sophomore, also placed, taking 6th in the Geometry section.
Overall, there were more than 900 students participating in the Academic Olympics this year, representing 24 different schools from the area. The medalists in each competition received certificates, medals, or trophies that were presented the day of the Academic Olympics. In the past students have always had to wait for rewards in the mail.
Barbara Witty, who is involved with the Academic Olympics, gave her view of why it is an important event, saying, "It is a nice break from the day to day routine, and it provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their skills and knowledge!"
